Converter Gas Primary Dedusting Revamping Project for Guangxi Shenglong Put into Operation Successfully

(Reported by Wang Yonggang from Department of Environmental Technology) Recently, contracted by Sino-heavymach, the #1 and #2 converter gas dry dedusting systems of primary dedusting revamping project for South Steelmaking District of Guangxi Shenglong Metallurgical Co., Ltd.(Guangxi Shenglong for short) were put into operation in succession.

This project is an EPC general contracting one, it requested that the electrostatic precipitator with the diameter of 12.6m should be overhauled, and the gas cooler be placed on the rear section. In this case, some high challenge targets could be achieved like the exhaust gas should be qualified only after went through the electrostatic precipitator and without any other additional dedusting equipment installed. This project is included technological process, equipment and facilities, repair, replacement, and revamping of existing equipment, civil works, and electrical control system, etc. Sino-heavymach’s patented technologies were adopted in this electrostatic precipitator revamping project. After revamping, the coarse dust can be directly recycled in the converter, and the rear gas cooler could eliminate stack water vapor emission, reduce loss, and save electricity and water consumption.

Since this August signed the contract, Department of Environmental Technology of Sino-heavymach responded quickly to organize the project team, carry out calculation and verification repeatedly, conduct the activities persistently, and design and engineering elaborately. With three-shift consecutive working, Sino-heavymach team conclusively completed the first set within 21 days, and the second set of 18 days, which is exceeding the target extraordinarily, and refreshing the record in revamping efficiency and speed. After revamping, the coarse dust could be directly used in the converter, and the stack water vapor emission was eliminated completely, and the dedusting effectiveness could meet the ultra-low emission requirement (≤10mg/Nm³). Two converters could save about 144,000 tons of water, and 420,000 degrees of electricity annually, and the economic and social benefits were significant and distinguished.

After the project was put into production, the realization was remarkable. The smog inside plant area was cleaned-up totally, which provided important support in equipment and technology for Guangxi Shenglong's green development. Again, this project has accumulated the valuable experience for Sino-heavymach in the large converter gas dry dedusting revamping project, and enhanced Sino-heavymach’s strong competitiveness of environmental protection engineering projects in future.
