Hot Test of Shougang Jingtang’s No.4 Galvanizing Line Spiral-Blade Drum Crop Shear Goes Successfully

August 26,2026

Recently, theRevamping Project of No.4 Galvanizing Line Exit Crop Shear at Shougang JingtangUnited Iron & Steel Co.,Ltd. (hereinafter referred to asShougang Jingtang), undertaken by the Strip Finishing and Processing Technology Institute of China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Sino-heavymach), has successfully completed hot test in a one-time trial and has been officially put into operation. The equipment has achieved stable operation, with all key technical performance indicators meeting the specified requirements.

The revamping project adopts the spiral-blade drum-type crop shear independently developed by Sino-heavymach. Through the application of a fifth-order polynomial fitting method for cam curve optimization, combined with reasonable boundary condition definition, the smooth cam curve transitions and a cutting accuracy of ±3 mmcan be achieved.Meanwhile, the equipment integrates a number of advanced functions, including dual-channel speed switching, automatic blade position self-correction, and variable-speed variable-length cutting. It also features significant advantages such as reduced cutting force, stable operation, convenient maintenance, and a compact footprint. After being put into operation, the upgraded system will effectively improve the production reliability and efficiency of Shougang Jingtang’s high-end automotive steel sheet production.

The Strip Finishing and Processing Technology Institute of Sino-heavymach has been continuously dedicated to technological research and engineering applications in the field of strip steel finishing and processing. It possesses comprehensive capabilities in the engineering design of complete production lines, including recoiling lines, packaging lines, galvanizing lines, and color coating lines, as well as the development of specialized equipment such as crop shears, side-trimmers, tension levelers, and spent fuel reprocessing lifting and rollover machines. This project represents the first EPC turnkey project for Sino-heavymach’s drum-type crop shear. The project team completed all major activities, including equipment dismantling, erection, cold test, hot test, and production start-up within only one week, receiving high recognition and positive feedback from the customer.Looking ahead, Sino-heavymach will continue to focus on the continuous upgrading and innovation of high-precision and intelligent shearing equipment, further expanding the application of core technologies such as drum-type flying shears in advanced steel processing lines. By contributing to higher-quality and more efficient development of the steel industry, Sino-heavymach is committed to providing customers with more efficient, reliable, and advanced equipment solutions.
