(Reported by Zhang Chao from Metallurgical Equipment Institute) Recently, the slab continuous caster system upgradation for CSP production line of Hunan Valin Lianyuan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as LY Steel), which was undertaken by China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Sino-heavymach) as General Contractor, has successfully commenced the hot test with load and entered into production. Currently, the equipment is operating stably with all performance figures reaching the design specifications. The product quality and performance guarantees are fully aligned with the user’s expectations. The project has achieved the full production capacity immediately upon putting into production.

This slab continuous caster system upgradation of CSP line has integrated several core processes and intelligent technologies independently developed by Sino-heavymach, which are including Intelligent Automatic Casting Platform, High-precision Tundish Liquid Level Control System, Accurate Mould Level Control System, On-line Thermal Width Adjustment System, Mould Expert System, Dynamic Secondary Cooling Water Control Model, Dynamic Soft Reduction System, along with the allied Intelligent Lubrication System, and Smart Operation & Maintenance System. From dual-dimension of the equipment hardware and technological software perspectives, we guarantee that the continuous casting machine could realize the stable running efficiently, precisely, and free from any fault right away after its commissioning, all of which provide the solid support to LY Steel, so that LY Steel could produce the media and high product mix like high-grade steel and Hi-B, and optimize its product structure. It is fully demonstrated Sino-heavymach’s technical accumulation and engineering strength  in the field of slab continuous casting.

Sino-heavymach, as a leading company in the aspect of continuous casting machine, has a deep and long-term cooperative relationship with LY Steel over ten years. As early as 2008, Sino-heavymach has contracted the #1 Slab Continuous Caster for LY Steel’s 210 Converter Plant through international bidding competition. This project earned high acclaim from the user for its stable, reliable performance and superior product quality. In 2023, Sino-heavymach and LY Steel joined forces again to successfully complete the #5 Slab Caster at LY Steel’s #1 Steel-making & Rolling Plant, which significantly boosted the production capacity of high-value-added products, such as LY Steel silicon steel and automotive steel with the advanced technological equipment. From early benchmark project to present intelligentialized upgradation, both parties walked side by side all the way, consistently promoting LY Steel’s continuous casting production lines toward the high-end, intelligent, and green iteration.
