(Reported by Qiu Lipeng from Heavy Forging & Extrusion Equipment Institute) Recently, the 36 MN double-action direct extrusion press, supplied as a complete set by China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Sino-heavymach for short) for Chinalco Northwest Aluminium Co., Ltd. (Northwest Aluminium for short), successfully completed the hot test in its first trial. The equipment operated stably, with all technical indicators meeting or exceeding contractual requirements.

The 36MN double-action direct extrusion press is a core equipment of Northwest Aluminium's "Three-Precision Base" project, primarily used for producing high-strength, high-precision, thin-walled aluminium profiles for national key sectors. To meet stringent process requirements, the project adopts electro-hydraulic closed-loop high-precision mandrel control technology, achieving precise mandrel positioning during extrusion to guarantee the product quality; utilizes solid piercing tube extrusion technology, significantly improving material utilization and production efficiency; applies servo hydraulic transmission technology, enabling high-precision, high-response control of the hydraulic system while notably reducing energy consumption, aligning with green manufacturing principles; and is equipped with a digital-intelligent control system, enabling real-time collection, analysis, and traceability of extrusion process parameters, providing robust data support for consistent product quality improvement.

The successful hot test of 36MN extrusion press marks that all main extrusion presses of "Three-Precision Base" project undertaken by Sino-heavymach have entered the handover phase, achieving a critical node in the base's construction. Upon completion, it will further enhance Northwest Aluminium's competitive edge in the production of high-strength, high-precision aluminum alloy extrusions.
