(Reported by Sun Lili from Tube/Bar/Section Equipment Institute) Recently, multiple sets of cold pilger mills contracted by Tube/Bar/Section Equipment Institute under Tube/Bar/Section Division of China Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Sino-heavymach for short) have been successfully put into operation for various clients, including Jiangsu Changbao Steel tube Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Jiuli Hi-Tech Metals Co., Ltd., Jiangyou Changcheng Special Steel Co., Ltd. of Pangang Group, Chongqing Fengli Titanium Industry Co., Ltd., Jinduicheng Molybdenum Group Co., Ltd., Huayu Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd., and Dongding Special Pipe Industry Co., Ltd., and etc.

Sino-heavymach is China’s designated authority for formulating technical standards in the pipe/tube mill sector and serves as the industry’s centralized governing body. It boasts robust research and development capabilities and a top-tier R&D team. Since the early 1960s, when China’s first cold pilger mill was successfully developed, many experts and engineers from Sino-heavymach have continued to explore and innovate in the field of cold pilger mill technology from generation to generation. Today, Sino-heavymach could design and supply the complete sets of cold pilger mills to produce the carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and hard-to-deform non-ferrous metal pipes/tubes with the outer diameter range of Ф2 mm to 730 mm and the minimum wall thickness of 0.1 mm. Leveraging its solid technological leadership and strong market competitiveness, Sino-heavymach has vigorously driven the thriving development of high-end pipe/tube production in China.

Especially, in the key sector of aeronautics and space, Sino-heavymach has successively supplied over 300 complete sets of high‑end precision tube forming equipment to the leading domestic tube manufacturers, including China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited, Xi’an Western Energy Material Technologies Co., Ltd., State Nuclear Bao Ti Zirconium Industry Co., Ltd., BAOTi Group Co., Ltd., and Baoyin Special Material Technology Co., Ltd., and so on. It has created more than 30 types of China’s first pilger mills, obtained numerous national patents, and won many provincial and ministerial level science and technology progress awards and other honors. Furthermore, the cold pilger mills have been exported to overseas markets such as the United States and European countries successfully.
