(Reported by Wang Yajing from Strip Finishing & Processing Institute) Recently, the cold rolling #6 galvanizing production line of Maanshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (Magang for short) has been formally completed and put into operation. The key shearing section of this production line adopts the dual-tower side trimmer and scrap chopper system, which is independently developed by China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Sino-heavymach for short).

The side trimmer, being a critical equipment of the galvanizing production line, plays a direct role in determining product accuracy and overall production efficiency. Aimed as a high-end production line, this newly-commissioned #6 galvanizing line is specialized in manufacturing high-strength, wider galvanized steel sheet/plate for the automotive industry, which imposes exceptionally rigorous requirements on the stability, accuracy, and shearing quality of the side trimming equipment. To meet the specific processing challenges posed by the production of high-strength, wider, and automotive-grade plates/sheets, Sino-heavymach has upgraded and optimized the dual-tower side trimmer and scrap chopper system, so as to guarantee the smooth and highly efficient operation. This marks another successful practice by Sino-heavymach in the field of side trimming equipment targeted for automotive sheet/plate galvanizing lines, following its services for multiple large steel enterprises.
